United States. An Official Captain Appointment Document to Amos B. Eaton, 1840 Auction who had been firing fromA paper document denoting Amos B. Eaton as Captain in the Second Regiment of Infantry as of March 1, 1837. Signed by the Secretary of War, J. R Poinsett and President Martin Van Buren, signed on the date February 20,1840. The document measures 352mm (w) x 425mm (h), with a seal present near the top left corner, heavy creasing and light foxing, slight discolouration around the edges and crease lines, remains in very fine condition.
